Babies: 9 - 12 Months

6mo NO SOLIDS

Anyone else pedi tell them to hold off on solids if baby has no interest and is perfectly healthy?  Dylan has no interest in eating at all...I will continue to try 1-2/week until he changes his mind but nutritionally he will continue to be EBF.  Anyone else here??

Re: 6mo NO SOLIDS

  • I wish! My dr advised to wait until 6mo, he said there was no reason to start earlier. We ebf and ds is a very good weight, chunky boy haha. Its just practice for him now and he is getting all his nutrition from you anyways. Were getting onto 3meals a day now. Believe me- save yourself the money, time and effort if he isnt interested! Oh and the mess....save yourself the mess! OH ANDDDD the poop!!  lol

  • We JUST moved to three meals a day. She has always been a good eater, but I never pushed it. If she pushes the food away, then we are done. Even now, she will sometimes only eat 2 meals a day. The solids fill her up! And, what can I say, she still likes her bottles. She is very healthy and happy, so I say do what you are doing.

  • We waited until 6 months to start solids and DD is just now getting the hang of it. She's EBF also, and won't even take a bottle of BM. The first week that we tried she wasn't into it at all, and we didn't push it. She hated the rice cereal so we switched to oatmeal cereal and she likes that a lot better. Our 2nd week of trying went much better, and now our 3rd week into it and she's opening her mouth for the spoon and eating everything! We just tried sweet potato yesterday for our first veggie and she liked that too! We didn't push it that hard in the beginning, just kept trying every couple days until she was ready. Just do what you feel is best!

  • Jake wasn't enthusiastic about solids. We offered, but didn't really start getting into it until he was closer to 7 months.

  • We tried solids for the first time a couple days after he turned 6 months.  It did not go well.  It has been a few days now since we've tried again and we're not pushing it.

  • We started trying at 6m and DD had absolutely no interest. Pedi said it was fine, and that many babies just aren't ready.

At 8m, it was like a switch went off and she started eating everything in sight. There isn't a food she won't eat now.

Trust me, enjoy the simplicity of EBF as long as you can!
