How do you rinse LOs mouth after brushing his/her teeth?

Re: How do you rinse LOs mouth after brushing his/her teeth?

  • Why would you need to if you aren't using toothpaste? And as far as I know you shouldn't be using toothpaste for a couple years.

  • I just brush with water and her brush. My pedi said no toothpaste. I dont know why since the baby one doesnt have flouride.
  • I don't rinse. I don't think I have enough toothpaste on there to really make a difference anyways.
  • My pedi gave DD a first toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste at her last appointment. It doesn't have any flouride in it, so he said its safe....
  • We use a tiny drop of a baby gel kind that doesn't require a rinse.
  • It is fine not to rinse after.
  • Why aren't they supposed to have fluoride? My pedi gave me fluoride to give to my son every day.

  • I don't.  We use a TINY smear of children's toothpaste per my pedi and dentist.  I brush his teeth twice a day, and don't rinse.

  • Maybe they want you to have flouride if they are getting breast milk exclusively? I have never discussed it with Evan's pedi. I assume he's getting plenty of flouride for this teeth since I make his bottles with tap water that has flouride in it.
  • Also, flouride is perfectly safe for babies, unless they are getting massive quanities of it. It's not poisonous!!
  • I use the training toothpaste and don't rinse with anything.  I guess I should be letting him have a drink of water afterwards.  I just hadn't thought of it before!  Thanks.
