Canned veggies

I'm a working mom who doesn't have time or the talent to make my own baby food.  Sooo, I was wondering if anyone has asked their pedi or has experience to answer this...

Can I just use canned (no salt) or frozen veggies and puree them?  I'm trying to save money and was wondering if this would work.

Thanks!

Re: Canned veggies

  • I use frozen! I would stay away from canned, though.

  • ditto.  canned have too many preservatives and a lot of cans are lines with BPA
  • Go with frozen!  I just got a bunch of frozen veggies for this purpose.
  • Frozen is fine.  Skip the canned!

  • I just wanted to add that we LOVE the steamfresh bags. They are perfect for my LO  now that he is feeding himself.
  • frozen peas are super easy to make. just boil them and then stick them in your blender. EASY!

Sweet potatoes are not hard either. Take 2 sweet potatoes, wet them down, and put them in your microwave for 13 minutes. They might make a hissing sound - thats ok. Once they are done they will be just like mashed potatoes. slice them open and scoop out the insides into a blender and puree.

I ditto your situation I have no time to slice and dice various veggies and fruits.
