I felt silly buying a video monitor, but I LOVE having it. I don't regret it one bit. I bought the Zopid monitor off Amazon. I researched all the options available and felt like this one had the least number of issues based on reviews. So far it has worked perfectly for us.

As a second time mom...yes yes yes! I would actually post this on 6-12 months because a lot of moms on here still have their babies in their room, when you don't need it. It's once the baby goes to the crib in their nursery it becomes key. If they are fussing or making noise, you can just look at the monitor and avoid a trip in there. Once they get older too, they will start to cry and even talk in their sleep (like my toddler does sometimes) and I can look and tell f he needs me or I can leave him be. I love my video monitor - couldn't live without it.

We had the Summer Infant Handheld with DS #1 and it was great. Now we have the Summer Infant Best View - which pans and zooms. You can also add a camera to it if you have a second baby. Both were good but I like the Best View better. It is expensive - over $200 - but worth it IMO.

I have the Best View too. I love it because our house is big and I know if I couldnt peek in on him I'd be going to check with any questionable noises he makes. Saves me a lot of trips up and down the stairs!

I have the $99 from summer. It has a mini TV with it. It's a must for us now that he's older. He is always talking to himself when he's getting to sleep and we only know when we should go in by watching him on the camera.
