FFFC: took the day off, but still took LO to daycare

I will be picking her up a few hours early, but am I a bad mom because I needed a day to myself to catch up?

We don't have any family around who can babysit for us, so I told DH to take her to daycare this morning anyway.

Not at all. I have summer hours on Fridays and can leave at noon if I have my 40 hours in. I'm "covering" this week so I have to stay until 3pm, but I fully plan on keeping DS at daycare until 5 so I can get caught up on housework when I get home before I go pick him up.

There is NOTHING wrong with needing time for yourself!! I'd do this every few months (or as needed) if I were you! My mom has watched DS many times so that I could go shopping/clean w/o interruptions/just get out of the house!!

I don't think you're a bad mom at all! I would do the same thing. It's nice to get caught up on things. Happy mommy = happy baby.

Um, no.

This is why we chose a DC near our house - so if we want to take the day off, we don't have to drive all the way to work to leave DS at DC.

We chose a daycare by work (40-45mins from home) because we'll be moving in the next 6 mos or so and didn't want to switch daycares.

I will still drive all the way up to drop him off so I can go back home and have a mommy day.

DH and I have done this a couple of times. It's really good for us. We'll drop LO off and day care and spend the rest of the day on the motorcycle. It keeps you sane.

Well, I didn't really take the day off, more than take 1/2 sick day in the morning for a migraine, and then work from home in the afternoon ... which everyone knows that you're not working at all. lol

I woke up with a terrible migraine, needed to take my medicine and rest, but my boss actually called me at home at 12n to check to make sure I was working. I thought to myself, "I should have just called in sick for the whole day."

There's nothing wrong with that. Sometimes it's necessary in order to get caught up on things that have to be done.

I've done it! My husband and I have no family around, and on days that we both have off (like President's day for example), we will take him for a couple hours and go out to lunch together and do some shopping or something. It's the only way we get a date.

i am a stay at home mom and both my kids have been at daycare since shortly after 8am--i had to clean the house before we have company for baptism weekend--there is no way i could get it all done with a 3 year old and an infant. deep clean carpets prep food etc.

It's called a "mental health day"--it will help you to be a BETTER mommy!!! Enjoy it before reality slinks back in!!
