Has anyone used, or considered using Rogaine for women?
These bald spots are driving me nuts. They're right by my temples so there is no way to cover them up. It's getting embarassing. I'm really considering getting some of this but I know nothing about it.
Re: Since we're all going bald - Rogaine?
Rogaine is not safe if pregnant or breast feeding.
that being said, rogaine will not help with hormonal hairloss only androgenic or female pattern hairloss. ALso for rogaine to be effective you have to use it for the rest of your life. Once you stop using it, the hair will cycle out and fall out to go back to where you would have been had you not used it.
The thing with Rogaine is that you will have to always use it. While you use Rogaine you will have new hair growth but once you stop using it your hair loss will go back to the way it was. Don't use Rogaine unless you know for sure you have alopecia. What you're experiencing is normal PP hair loss. Yes it sucks but it will eventually stop. If it continues past 1 year then consult your Dr and get blood work done. Thyroid issues, low iron, low B12 or even whacked out hormones (too little estrogen or too much testosterone) can cause hair loss.
For me, my PP hair loss went on for over 2 years, until I got pregnant this last time. I went through all the motions...got blood work done, etc and there was nothing wrong. The only thing they could come up with was that it was PP shedding. I never had it after my first was born. I am praying it's not that bad this time around. I did a sh*t load of research and went from Dr to Dr to figure out what was causing my hair loss only to not come up with answers as to how to stop it.
Ah damn... hopefully my hair was just gowing back on it's own and it wasn't the rogaine... haven't used it in over a month...
If it helps any, my mom almost lost all of her hair after both of her pregnancies. I'm not exaggerating, she went almost completely bald. She looked like she'd gone through chemo and spent her life wearing hats and scarves on her head.
It grew back after about 7-8 months PP.
