Phil & Teds vs BOB or others (joggers)

I am doing a few stroller fitness and mommy bootcamp classes and its killing my Graco we need a jogger. I am debating between a Phil & Teds or a BOB. The P&T is appealing because of it converting to a double and we will eventually have another LO (in 2 or 3 years). Anyoen have either of these or another jogger you recommend? Pros/cons? TIA!

Re: Phil & Teds vs BOB or others (joggers)

  • We have the BOB Ironman.

DH loves it, as does DD. If you are looking strictly for a running stroller, it is awesome. It does have a locked front wheel, which can make going for walks a little difficult.

It is bright yellow so if he is running at dusk you can REALLY see it.

  • We have a Jeep stroller and I LOVE it.  I walk a lot around our neighborhood, which has a lot of hills, and it handles great.  It also has speakers and an input jack for an iPod, which is awesome.
  • We just bought a Chariot.  They are quite pricey but totally worth it IMO.  They come in single and double (we bought a double right off the bat), and aside from being a jogger, they have attachments such as strolling wheels, hiking attachment, bike, and cross country skiing.  It is awesome.

  • We have a BOB and love it. They have pretty good resale value, so you could trade it in for a Duallie (which we're going to do) when #2 arrives.
  • I have a Phil and Ted's classic, which I bought when my older daughter was 9 months knowing I would have #2 fairly soon.  I absolutely LOVE it!  It's the smallest double on the market, folds small enough to fit in the "trunk" of my VW Beetle, steers beautifully and is all around a great stroller. I have not regretted this purchase for even half a second and it has held up great with 5-7 mile a day use (I live in Manhattan and walk a lot).

It is not, however, designed for heavy running.  I use it for light jogging, even with both kids, but it's not meant  to be a true jogging stroller.  From what I've heard it will tip if you are running too fast with it (NOT a problem for me lol!).  If you see yourself using a stroller for heavy running, I would get a Bob or a Chariot as they are designed for that.

  • I love my bumbleride indie!

  • I love my BOB!   They do have great resale value for down the road.   The Revolution has a swivel front wheel that can be locked if you prefer for running.

  • P&T is not a jogger...a friend of mine made the mistake of running with it and when it broke, the first thing P&T said was, "You weren't running with it, were you?" I love our Bob Revolution.

  • We were debating between these two strollers (the doubles versions) and did a lot of research and ultimately decided to go with the P&T because both DH & I preferred the in-line style of the P&T vs. the side-by-side of the BOB. We also liked that the P&T could be used right away with a baby (the BOB has a carseat adapter, but it's not compatible with our Chicco), and it can be either a single or a double with the removal of the extra seat. The BOB can only ever be a single OR a double.

I know moms that have both, and both highly recommend them. So depending on what your main use would be and what you prefer, I don't think you can go wrong!
