My husband loves the name Luca. To me it sounds feminine. He is Italian and I know the name is very popular among Italian males. But I know in America a lot of parents use it for girls. What do you think when you hear it, I want to make sure it sounds like a boys name.....

I think Luca is a boys name. The first and only Luca I've met was in high school and it was a male. I know just because it ends in an "a", we automatically think girl but there are a few names out there that end in an "a" that are boys: Isaiah, Elijah. Well, they end in "h" but it sounds like an "a". The Luca I knew was Italian also.

Even in Italy names that end with an "a" are typically girl names, BUT there are exceptions like Andrea and Luca which over there are 100% male

It reminds of the Suzanne Vega song from the 1980s, "Luka." I always thought she was singing about a girl, but I don't really know why. I suppose it could be masculine, maybe.

I thought the same, until I saw the video and Luka was played by a young boy. I instantly thought of that song when I read the OP's comment.
