Feeling letdown for the first time - in my armpit??

For the first 3 months, I never felt "letdown" and wondered what the heck everyone was talking about.  For the last few days I have felt a burning, pulling sensation at my nipple that continues deep into my breast and even around my side under my armpit.  Is that what letdown feels like?  Or could it be that this is some milk duct issue?  Very confusing...

    Breast tissue does extend into the armpit... but if you have never felt letdowns before (after three months- I would think that if you were going to feel it you would have by now) makes me think that you are feeling something else and that feeling is triggered by the letdown that you don't feel.

    I have had thrush in my milk ducts before and the pain was mostly during let-downs- so that is one possibility... have you checked your baby for thrush? and do you have any other symptoms?  Does it really hurt- the burning?  I find the let down feeling to be a sort of tingling rush- that crosses to a stinging sort of feeling if I am engorged- but typically it's a warm relaxing "rush" almost like a wine buzz.
