  So, I looked into sittercity, but I found the rates at my local nanny service to be much cheaper.  A lot of the sitters on sittercity are looking for long term or more predictable sitting arrangements (like a friday night date every week).  The nanny service that we use costs $325 per year, or $25 per usage and then $12/hour (the rate in my area was $15/hour on sittercity), there is a 4 hour minimum and you need to give 24 hours notice (more notice if you want a specific sitter).  The sitters at the nanny service have all had intensive background checks, are rarely late and are typically college students (many with education backgrounds).

  i've used care.com and a lot of people cross post their ads on sittercity as well, but care.com is cheaper.  it's $30 a month.  they do background checks and you can read references and reviews.  i found a couple of fabulous babysitters, one is a 4th grade teacher and the other is a college student.

  We have used it.  It was good for us to find a baby sitter.  If you're looking for a nanny type person, I would recommend other sites over this one.  Well, at least in our area, that held true.

  I have used Care4hire.com to hire my babysitters - and they have been very reliable and trustworthy.
