sand and water table

Does anyone have either the Step 2 or Little Tikes sand and water table?  Opinions?  I'm torn.  The Step 2 has excellent reviews, but it only holds 10 pounds of sand.  It just seems like it might be more prone to blowing over.  The Little Tikes set seems cute and I like that it has seperate covers for both sections, but is the assembly that bad?

Re: sand and water table

  • I'm going to get that same Step 2 table probably today.  It's on sale at Aldi for $50.  You can't beat that price.  The table itself is 25 lbs so I doubt it would blow over.

  • We have the step 2 one. Trust me, it's not going anywhere once there is sand in it. We do take the umbrella down at night though.

  • We have the step2 one and my girls love it. Keeps them busy for hours. It is sturdy and heavy enough not to blow away so don't let that be a concern. BTW, both the tables weigh 25lbs w/o the sand.

We take our umbrella down when we aren't using it just so it doesn't get worn out.

  • do they get really messy?  All I can picture is muddy mucky messes
  • We have that little tikes one.  We don't use sand, just water so it doesn't matter to us about the covers.  We don't even use them since we pour the water out after each use.  Assembly wasn't hard if you read the directions, which I didn't and now my legs are all crooked and funny looking.
  • We have the Step2 Sand and Water cart.  Similar to the one in the picture you have.  It has the umbrella, a side for water and a side for sand.  I love it because it's on wheels and I can easily move it wherever.

$50 is sweet... our Aldi has them for $60.
