Are you all buying clothing in larger sizes? I have been looking at buying end of the season clearance items for next year - like 12 month and even 18 month sizes. I figure that I will eventually need them and I might as well pay $2-$10 dollars for them instead of $20-30? Childrens Place is having an awesome clearance right now - plus an additional 15% with coupon code (C4A4A). I have over 20 items in my cart for around $75.
Is this a smart idea or am I just overly obsessed with my child's wardrobe?
Re: Buying bigger clothing sizes?
If you live somewhere that has true seasons, I would hold off on buying clothes too far in advance. Like others have said, it's really difficult (if not impossible) to predict what size your LO will wear in a year. And there will always be other sales. My son was a 5lb premie when he was born, but once he started growing he was always off the growth charts. Now he's a 2 year old who's the same height as most 4 year olds.
Living in Florida, I can pick up short sleeve shirts that are on clearance because I know he'll wear them regardless of the time of year. But I could never do that with long pants.
I have done this for DS#2. He is a season off from DS#1. I can't resist a bargain and I love to shop. I am very cautious with getting stuff on sale that can be worn in 2 seasons - fall/winter, spring/summer - because you can't predict your child's size. As an example, my DS#1 was a chunker and weighed 20lbs at 3 months and was wearing 6-12 months clothes at that time. I figure a couple of bargains that could work over 6 months are a okay, but not too many. I also am keeping the tags on them. If some of them don't work, I am going to sell them in a local consignment sale. You could also try to sell them on ebay - new with tags sells better than used clothing any day. I also haven't bought past 12 months.
I'm team green, so I only have clothes through 3-6 mo range, and I'm sure before then I'll be buying more gender specific clothing.
