OK, I know this has been asked before but help me out here.
I'm needing something more comfortable to wear. My bras still fit (thank goodness) but I think I'm starting to get to the point where my band size is going to start going up. I want to find some sort of tank that I can wear around the house at least.
Problem: I already wear a 38DDD/F. This hasn't changed since I've been pregnant. I can't find anything that's not outrageously expensive.
I am quite honestly stunned at the lack of options for women with larger boobs. It's like there's some rule I didn't know about that big busted women don't have babies, though. Usually by the time they have my cup size, the band is something like a 44, which sort of defeats the purpose.
At least in normal bras I can usually find my size, but pregnancy/nursing stuff all seems to believe that women top out at an F cup.
I may have to suck it up and spend some money, but I'm having trouble justifying it right now.
Re: Nursing/Maternity tanks with support for larger sizes
I have been battling the bra situation too...I've purchased about a million different bras, and nothing gives me the support I need. I finally sucked it up and bought a few Medela bras...2 sleeping bras (for wearing around the house) and 2 nursing bras. The nursing bras are horrendously ugly, but they give me such good support.
That being said, my bust size is not as big as yours (I'm a 36 D/DD) but I'm wondering if the nursing brands carry the size you're looking for...you've probably already checked, but I wanted to put a plug in for Medela bras since they've been the only ones that have worked for me so far.
I was about your size before my first pregnancy. I never actually found a specific nursing bra or tank that helped me. I did come up with a solution though.
I nursed DD#1 for 10mo and #2 for hmmm 7 months I think. My memory is fuzzy and I blame the kids. haha
Anyway, I got up to (and still am) a 42G. Here's my nursing set up that worked out great. I wear these no-wire bras from Lane Bryant - https://cacique.lanebryant.com/bras/no-wire/cotton-no-wire-bra/15023c15038p31347/index.pro
Over that, wear any shelf-cami, such as this (but I've also found some at old navy and target etc) https://cacique.lanebryant.com/catalog/search.cmd?form_state=searchForm&x=0&y=0&keyword=camisole+shelf
Then, put your regular shirt on top.
When you go to nurse, slide off the strap of the bra and cami on whichever side you need, pull your outer shirt up, and there you go. You're totally covered on your stomach (from the cami) and up top (from the shirt.)
I hope this helps!
Do you have a Lactation Cosultant Group in your area?
My LC sold nursing tanks and bras in larger sizes in their office, they would even measure you for the best fit prior to your purchase. If they did not have it in stock they ordered and had it shipped to my house.
