Adoption

BM's due date moved up 2 weeks!

So I was at another ultrasound appointment with K and they moved her due date up a couple of weeks! I'm excited but starting to feel so unprepared! I feel like we have so much to do still (we really don't have too, too much to do but it feels like it!). I'm a big time "planning" type of girl, and I am feeling like we need to have everything done NOW, like yesterday! lol - I guess I'm going through my own "nesting" period huh? Anyone else feel/felt that way?

  • I am so excited for you.  I didn't have time to nest.  When we got the call about Ben he was already born.  Born on Sunday, got the call on Monday, took him home from the hospital on Tuesday.  Thank goodness babies don't need much to start with and as long as they have formula, diapers, and clothes and a place to sleep, they're good..LOL!

I have felt that way several times.  We go through periods when we have a spurt of "OMG, we have to get the house ready!"  Our latest is right now, because we're hoping to have a referral within the month.  The last time was when we were getting our child's room ready, and I ended up crying because when we took the painter's tape off it ripped chunks of fresh paint off the wall.

  • That's exciting!!!! You will have plenty of time! :)
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • How exciting! I'm the same way, I love to plan. I would be nervous about losing 2 weeks too but just think, you are that much more close to holding your little bundle! :-)

  • Congrats! Two weeks you will be fine.
  • That's so exciting!  I definately go through spurts of a nesting period too.  GL, can't wait for you until the big day is here!!
  • Sounds completely normal to me!  We've been matched for one week and I already feel behind. :)
  • That is exciting! I am a planner too, but also work good under pressure so i hope that is the case for you too.
