Maybe I'm just being close minded or judgemental or something, when we picked out name we battled it out until we both agreed on a name for each gender that we both loved and wanted for our LO. Well, my SIL and brother are also expecting (their 2nd baby- she's being induced in week) and don't know the gender. Their method of picking a name is to put each person's names into a hat (regardless if the other person likes it or not) and drawing for each gender. They literally do this and did this for their first baby (Cheyenne McKenzie) too. Maybe its just me, but isn't this sort of generic? It just doesn't sit right with me for some reason. Is it just me? am I being judgemental close minded?

Re: Maybe its just me.... (on names)
if I loved all the names equally--maybe.
I couldnt do it.
I couldn't do it that way. Me and DH have to agree. Plus it's a lot easier to defend a name choice to someone who doesn't like it if you actually like/picked the name.
Plus, if my mother had it her way, I was going to be Bonnie (totally NMS). My dad vetoed it and they agreed on Amanda, which I'm thankful for.
I personally couldn't imagine doing this, but I know someone who did. It seems a bit weird to me.
I'm Team Green and I have a girl name picked out. I will also have a boy name picked by then. We've always just had names picked before the baby was born.
