Random nursing/pumping question

Did you keep wearing nursing pads in your bras all the time that you nursed?  I don't wear them at night, but I do during the day.  I don't really think I need them because I don't think I'm ever leaking or anything.  But for some reason I'm paranoid not to wear them.  Just wondering if you quit wearing them at some point?

Re: Random nursing/pumping question

  • I wear them 24/7.  In addition to having a supply that fluctuates a lot with Claire's recent distraction mood (and thus, eat well one time but not the next), I also don't like to wear unlined/unpadded bras.  All my nursing bras are like this and I chaf otherwise so I wear nursing pads all the time until I wean and can go back to my normal bras.  I use Dr. Browns washable nursing pads so I don't have to worry about the expense or waste of using so many nursing pads.

  • I didn't wear them very long.  Maybe not past 4 months when I realized that I never ever leaked anymore.

This was my reason up until about 8 months.  I was away from home and did not have them with me, so I went without and decided I was ok without them.

  • I used to leak a lot, so I still wear them. I don't leak as often now, but still wear them. . .especially at work. Anytime I hear a baby cry at work I feel it in my breasts and am afraid I'll leak!

  • Even though I don't leak a lot, I still wear them pretty regularly. I figure the one time I don't wear them is when I'm going to have a problem. And, of course, it will be in front of 50 people or something.

This :)  I wear them most days but not at night!

  • Whenever I didn't wear nursing pads was when I was sure to leak in public.  My favorite was when I went to lunch with Bif and a couple of his co-workers and I started leaking through the white shirt I was wearing.

I had to stuff my bra with paper towels.  Good times...

  • I had a great supply but only ever leaked when I took a shower.  I wore the pads during my first week back to work (just to be safe), but never found it necessary after that.  If I ever once leaked in public though then I would have always worn the pads, but I never needed to (thank goodness).

  • I didn't have to wear them at all after DS was about a month old.  I was really lucky to have a good supply, but very little leaking issues.  The only time I would leak is if I got really engorged.
  • I wore them all through out the first year of EPing cuz i did leak here and there and was afraid i'd leak the one time I didnt wear them...I am also the girl who had to wear them for most of the 3rd trimester because of leaking!!

  • I wore them 24/7. I used disposables during the day and washable at night.

  • I actually never wore them, I was lucky that I never had much problem with leaking.  If you don't leak much, I'd give it a try without them!
