Can you feel your uterus?

A lot of my pregnancy books are starting to say I should be able to feel the top of my uterus just above my pubic bone about around this time. I can't really feel anything.

However, I will say in the AM when my bladder is completely full I can feel a bulge in my abdomen and I'm guessing this is my uterus being pushed up by my full bladder.

Can anyone else relate? I'm not concerned at all, just curious.

  • LOL I can't even figure out "the top of my pubic bone" let alone find my uterus.

  • I can feel mine.  Its hard and if I push along the top of my pubic bone, I can feel where it starts and stops.  My OBGYN also told me that my uterus is tilted forward so I am sure that might help, too.

  • I've never been good at feeling it.  At my last appointment my MW as doing an interanal as we talked about this, she showed me where to hold my hand and was pushing on my UTE and said "can you feel it moving there?"  Uh...no.  So even when it was obvious to her where the top of the fundus was, I still couldn't feel it.  However, as you get bigger it will be much more obvious - like when it's above your belly button.

  • I could with my 1st but not with this one.

  • I can feel it, because at my last appointment the doctor said yep "you're way up here" - meaning my uterus.  I could tell a difference in what he was feeling, so now I when I feel for it, I know what to look for.  Its hard and feels foreign, not like fat or anything else in my tummy.  I can feel it easiest in the morning before I get out of bed (with a full bladder).  Its pretty cool!

On a side note, the other night we could see my uterus on one side of my stomach.  When I looked straight on into the mirror, my bump was really lopsided.  DH noticed it too. :)

  • I'm one day behind you and I haven't been able to either. I think I have too much fat covering it. Plus the "bump" I have is up way higher than just above my pubic bone, so I don't get how my uterus is still that low. I guess it's pushing everything else up and making the bump?

  • i can now, but it wasn't til about 14 weeks, and then this past week or so< WHOA, something shifted, b/c its almost moved up higher a LOT all of a sudden! kinda weird!

  • So...I can't tell what's uterus and what's muscle.  I feel really dumb.  I mean, I should be able to tell the difference, right?  But no, I defintiely can't.

It's funny you say that! Because when I can feel my uterus in the morning it's slighting on my right side, right where I always can find the baby's heartbeat with the doppler. Maybe my uterus is a little lopsided too....I hope that doesn't mean we have weird big bumps lol

    LOL Yes

I haven't actually felt for it yet. I assumed it's too early for me to feel it so I haven't even tried.

  • All I know is what used to be squishy and soft down there is now a hard little bump, so I'm guessing yes!

  • I can't feel it either. My belly is definitely popped out but I can't tell the difference between my uterus and just belly.

I've also been wondering why my bump is so high when the baby and uterus is much lower!

What I find weird too is that at my NT scan at 11 weeks, the girl was putting the u/s device all around my belly button, which is much higher than I thought the baby was at that point.

  •  I have tried multiple times but can't feel mine either.

  • I can feel it and see it. Up until this week it's been my only bump. Now the area above it is finally starting to bump out, but I can still easily see my uterus poking our below right above my pelvis.
  • I can find mine if I poke around looking for it.  Its not blatantly obvious, but feels kind of like a full waterballoon.

I've been trying to feel for it but then I think about when the tech push around my abdomen and it pissed off baby. Great way to start off life, pissed off at mom for waking him/her up.

  • I've been trying to feel around for mine, but get nowhere. The first and only time I felt it was yesterday morning when I turned wrong in bed and it hardened for about 10 secs. I was weirded out and overjoyed at the same time.

  • This has been freaking me out for two weeks now!  All the comments about how tight your pants should be, and finding the uterus poking out.  When I really have to pee, have had a big dinner, and am standing up I can feel it. Some days I can feel it all day long, other days hardly at all.  I can't wait for it to just be out there!

I think the same?  I had no idea, but when I was at the dr. they were measuring down there and I found it quite uncomfortable.. I'm going to say it's because I've never been pregnant this far along before, and they gave me no indication that they were going to be pushing my abdomen from all angles to feel it...
