We have pretty much hit a wall with Abby (again) when it come to discipline. None of our old tricks, time outs, counting, etc are very effective anymore. It has turned into a decent amount of yelling going on around here, her at us and us at her , and I need it to stop.
I was reading this awesome blog, Teachmama and she receommended this book Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline.
Has anyone read this book? Any recs or non recs, for this book or any others?
Re: Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline?- anyone ?
My mom highly recommends the books "Your 3 year old", "Your 4 year old" etc. She loaned me the 2 and 3 year old books, and I had a lot of "aha!" moments while reading them. There was a lot of relief in reading that my child is pretty much a normal kid, that what she's doing is normal, that it's not going to last forever, how to handle it, etc. So I'd definitely recommend Your 4 Year Old.

We're also reading The Everything Guide to The Strong Willed Child.

So far it seems pretty dead on with regard to Meredith.
My mom also often tells me "When they're at their worst, it's when they need you the most". I've lost count how many times she's told me that. I try to repeat that to myself when Meredith is in the midst of a tantrum, is misbehaving, etc. and it helps me calm down so I don't respond to her in anger. It's not perfect, and I'm not perfect, but I'm definitely doing better, and so is she.

I found this really helpful during my years teaching:

It's got strategies for a mix of ages, so not specifically focused on preschoolers, but VERY helpful for understanding a strong willed child.
