I'm trying to be selective with my registry items, because we simply can't afford to have a swing, a bouncer, a gym, etc., so I'm trying to decide which one of these would be the top pick.
Bouncers are obviously less expensive than swings, and I hear that a lot of babies like bouncers better anyway, so at first I just put the Fisher Price lamb bouncer on there.
Now I'm researching the Sweetpeace, and although it's a LOT more expensive, I like how it's all in one. Here are my questions:
If you had to choose, would you choose the bouncer or the Sweetpeace? Is the Sweetpeace worth the extra money?
When you remove the carrier from the swing part of the Sweetpeace, does it still vibrate on it's own?
Thanks ladies!
Re: Graco Sweetpeace vs. a plain bouncer
We got the Sweetpeace because it was so much better overall. I can't wait to use it and I see it as something we should be able to pack up and use again if we have another. So personally I think its worth the money.
As far as the carrier vibrating on its own I have no idea.
I got the sweetpeace from a craigslist seller for $75. For things like bouncers and swings, I think it makes sense to buy used, since the babies don't use them that long, and all the used ones I've seen have been in great shape.
Just a suggestion!
I had the Sweetpeace, and I honestly never viewed it as a substitute for the bouncer. I see that Baby Bargains touts it as a bouncer, as does BRU, but for me, it really was an alternative to a swing. Not the bouncer...
But, to answer your question, yes the seat when removed from the base does vibrate on it's own. There's a separate battery pack for that.
Unfortunately for me, DD HATED it. She would scream her head off in it. It's such a shame b/c it really is an amazing piece of baby gear. She was more happy in a basic travel swing. If you're looking to save money then that's what I recommend you do, go for a travel swing and a bouncer. However, it can't hurt to put the Sweetpeace on your registry and see what happens. DD hated hers, but I lent it to my brother for my newborn nephew and he absolutely loves it. So it all depends on the kid...here's hoping my next one will like it, b/c it really is awesome. DD just happens to be one of those 'non-swing' kids.
For the record, what I loved about it was how many different ways you can adjust the way the baby rides, all the sounds, the vibration of the seat, the variable speeds, and most importantly the fact that it plugs into the wall! The few times DD did tolerate it, she would pass out for hours. But it just didn't happen that often.
For some reason BRU lists it under bouncers:

as well as swings, and Baby Bargains (at least the 8th edition) also notes it as a bouncer. I don't know how anyone could consider it a bouncer!! It does vibrate...the seat at least does.
