We go to Kennesaw Pediatrics. I really like them until recently. We used to see Dr. Thower. We had an appointment with her recently but they called me and told me that she was no longer with the practice. I was really upset. It seems every time we go back there is a new doctor with the practice. We have seen one of the new doctors the last two sick visits. I didn't really like him. DH took her to the last appointment and really didn't like him either. In fact DH said he doesn't ever want to see him again which is pretty bad if my laid back DH doesn't want to see him. Her last appointment was for a rash. The doctor opened her diaper and there was poop everywhere. Told DH to use Lotrium. He didn't even wipe the poop off. I am not sure if all rashes are treated the same way but would you want a good look at the rash? I know there are plenty of other doctors to see but what happens if we have to see him b/c there are no other doctors available. She was also diagnosed with another ear infection. This makes 3 ear infections since the middle of February.
Who do you recommend in the Marietta/Kennesaw area? Do you like all the doctors with the practice? Do you think I am over reacting a little by wanting to find a new pedi? I don't need a referral to see a specialist with my insurance. Do you think I should make an appointment with an ENT or wait for another ear infection?
Re: Thinking of changing Pedis
hmmmm. I can't rec anyone b/c i go to KP and love them. I see either Dr. Long or Dr. Brugner and love them both. If I go in for a sick visit and can't see them, then I've seen a couple others. I know some girls on here also love Dr. Mona.
I used to take Jax to Kennesaw Family Physicians - it's where my pcp is but they do peds too. I love them for me, but I wasn't happy with the pedi part... We just felt very differently about milestones and how to raise children.

I think I am over reacting a little bit. I think we may try to see Dr Brugner now that Dr. Thrower is gone. Dr. Mona is not bad and I even like Dr. Strauss. I can't even pronounce the name of the doctor we just saw for the sick visit.
Also the owner of Ava's daycare and one of her teachers had a funny look on their face when I told them where we go. You know the look like I really want to tell you something about that place but I won't. This morning I mentioned that we may change practices and they both said they thought it was a good idea. Not really sure why. Both of them go to East Cobb pediatrics and I guess Dr. Long used to be with that practice. Not sure why they don't like him but I think there reaction is making me over react a bit too.
I go to KP and love them too! I usually see Dr. Thrower and Dr. Brugner, so I'm sad to hear that Dr. Thrower is no longer with the practice. Dr. Brugner is wonderful too! All the other doctors I have seen aren't as friendly, or supportive. I had one bad experience with one of the newer drs and I just won't see her again (I forget the name though).
I've heard though that Kenmar Pediatrics is a great practice. Its by Kennestone Hospital.

some friends of mine just had a bad newborn experience w/ dr long. said he seemed in a rush and didn't want to wait for baby to stop pooping.
but we really like him.
ultimately it's your baby and you have to go with your gut and how YOU feel.
so good luck. wish I could help more

I do feel like Dr Long acts rushed a lot. But he's really good about answering my questions. Or I'd feel the SAME way.
Also (LOL) He said my son was smart. So gotta love him, right??

I have actually not had any problems with Dr. Long. We saw him a lot when Ava was newborn. This may sound silly but I want Ava to have a female pedi. I just feel like the older she gets the more comfortable she will be with having a female. I really loved Dr. Thrower. If I could find out where she went I would switch practices.
I think if you don't feel comfortable then switch. Its all about you and baby. Some people just don't click.
On the ear infections, my pedi doesn't recommend tubes unitl it's 5-6 ear infections. Have you had rechecks of the ears to see if the infection actually clears up? The one reason we went with tubes is b/c his last ear infection refused to clear up. He'd feel good for a few days then we'd be back at the pedi. It wasn't clearing up like it should have on antibotics.
I think it has been one big ear infection and it just hasn't cleared up. @ the recheck after the second ear infection the pedi said she had fluid in her ears. Then less than a week later we are back in the pedi office with another infection. I think the fluid has just not cleared up since Feb. We are on a third round of antibiotic. We go back for another ear check in a week and a half.
This is her 4th ear infection in less than 6 months. 3 rd in the last month and a half.
We also LOVE Kenmar. Dr. Dixon is our main Dr but I've seen them all and liked them all. I think you have to go with your gut and if you have concerns, you should switch. Doesn't mean they aren't a good practice- but just might not be a good fit for you. As for the tubes, if you really think this is just 1 big ear infection that is not clearing then I REALLY think you need to see an ENT. Ear infections hurt so bad!
