Parenting after a Loss

5 days after giving birth: CRAZY sweating! Anyone else?

I'm not kidding you, I wake up SOAKED every time after I go to sleep for a nap. And no joke I am drooling in my sleep like crazy as well. Sooo weird! Anyone else have this after giving birth? This has been going on for about two or three days now...Very interesting!  I assume it's just the body's way of getting rid of some of the extra fluid maybe? ??

  • I did that until just the last few days.... it is the hormones regulating too...

It WILL go away... I promise:)

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. A friend warned me about this when I was close to my due date and I had never heard of it before. It doesn't last too long though. :)
  • Yes, it was awful. I had hot flashes too. It takes a few weeks to go away. I was super swollen from all the IVs and couldn't see my ankles for a few weeks too. Drink lots of water so you don't get dehydrated (helps your supply for BF too). It will go away soonl

    Hormones. Eew. lol

  • What PP said, it's the hormones. My BFF is a post partum nurse and told me to expect it.

Yep - the sweating, drooling, hot flashes, and peeing a ton the first few weeks. It does go away...and then the post-partum hair loss will begin. Fun, huh?
  • I had horrible night sweats and hot flashes.  I'd go from burning hot and sweating to freezing cold.  It was awful.  It lasted until 1.5-2 weeks postpartum.
  • The night sweats were awful. I couldn't figure out if I was sweating, my boobs were leaking or if I had peed in the bed.

  • Yes!  I think this took a couple weeks to subside for me.  I actually thought it was residual from the fever I ran during labor (101!), but I guess it's normal
  • Yes, I was so sweaty after I had dd.
  • This lasted about a week for me.  Then it returned about 3 weeks after birth off and on randomly for another week or so.  I woke up soaked many times too.  I hated it.  It was so hard to feel clean between sweating, bleeding, breastmilk, etc.  LOL

    It'll pass!

  • Hate to say it but it lasted 2 long months for me.... I would change my shirt AT LEAST twice during the night. I am not a sweater so this was so weird/gross for me.

  • Yup!  I would also wake up in the middle of the night freezing cold and unable to get warm.  My teeth would be chattering!  It was awful.
