grapefruit seed extract

Tell me more about using this on your CD's for yeast rash.  DS keeps battling this, and we keep switching back to sposies with Lotrimin to get rid of it.  And where do you get the extract?  I need a good online place, as no where local carries it.

Thanks.

Re: grapefruit seed extract

  • i *lurve* the GFSE. we used it in the wash, 75 drops in every load of laundry including CDs until the rash was well + truly gone. it looks like you can buy it online at amazon or vitacost. this is the brand we got at whole foods: https://www.vitacost.com/NutriBiotic-GSE-Liquid-Concentrate-Grapefruit-Seed-Extract?csrc=GPF-728177010010

jay gordon uses it in his thrush protocol, but we only used in in the laundry: https://drjaygordon.com/breastfeeding/thrush.html.

i swear by coconut oil for yeast rash. it is a natural antifungal and it knocked out the rash WAY better than lotrimin ever did. coconut oil + as much naked time as you can manage=magic.

    GL!

Tell me more about the coconut oil.  Do you just apply it like you would a cream, instead of the cream?  Is it safe with CD's?  Will's almost over his current yeast, but I want to wash his diapers to make sure no yeast is lingering there...  Ick!

  • yes, we just used it in place of a cream. it is pretty solid at room temp (depending on your room :). it starts to turn into oil pretty fast when it touches their bum from the body heat. just oil 'em up!

we just keep a little dish of it at her changing table, and apply it whenever we see redness. when we were combating the rash, we used it at every change devotedly. we used sposies for most of the rash-era, but haven't seen any issues with our CDs since. i asked here about coconut oil + CD, and the responses i got were that people generally think its ok.

gfse should kill the yeast in his dipes. don't forget the other laundry too: bath towels + washcloths in particular.
