Trying to decide between the Medela FreeStyle and the Medela Pump in Style. Any moms use these and what do you think? Is the Freestyle worth the extra $100? Did you really need it to be handsfree?
Im most likely going to be SAHM after baby and all the ads show ladies using it while sitting at a computer working. Im pretty sure the patients at the eye doc where I work would not be appreciative of me doing that at the front desk haha! ![]()
Re: have you picked a breast pump?
I bought the ameda purely yours based upon reviews.
What do you get for the extra $100...that is quite a bit more.
I used the medela pisa with dd, and it worked great! My friend had the freestyle and had nothing but problems with the motor. I made mine hands free by buying an easy expression bustier..I think I paid about 20 bucks for the top at our bf clinic.
ETA: No matter what you get, either get the busiter or make one out of an old sports bra with slits cut in it. It really isn't fun holding them to your boobs 10-15 min at a time. Your hands/arms get really tired.
I used the Medela PIS for over 12 months while I EPed. It worked great and was able to keep up my supply and more. I have heard that the Freestyle hands free option does not work for everyone.
I wouldn't think about spending too much on a double electric if you're going to be at home. It's a lot easier just to BF and then pump as needed. I would not pump if I didn't have too.

You can make about any pump hands free. The difference with the Freestyle is that you can be completely untethered. The motor just clips to your belt and you can move around freely, rather than being tied to a bag or a wall.
With DD, I had the PISA and the Freestyle. This time around I will use the Freestyle solely.
