  Epidural only. I had an unplanned c-section.

  Both.  DS weighed 10 pounds at birth.  Actually my recovery went really well, too!

  I had an epidural, but only because I ended up in emergency c-section. I went through 16 hours of labour, including 3 hours of pushing, drug free. No episiotomy, though, as I didn't end up delivering vaginally.
