What happened was I kinda needed more Phenegren so I emailed the drs office and while I was chatting with the nurse (when she called me back) I mentioned the doppler and did she have any tips on using it bc I couldnt find the heartbeat. She proceeded to basically tell me a doppler wouldnt pick it up at 18 weeks (which we all know is stupid) and I told her it could (duh) but it was no biggie bc I felt a bunch of movement last night so I wasnt worried I was just wondering if she knew a better way with the doppler. She told me I could not feel movement at 18 weeks (is she STUPID?!) and basically just to let it go. Well I got pissed and snapped at her (I mean, I was telling her I WASNT worried but I damn sure could feel movement and you can hear a heartbeat on a doppler at 18 weeks. )
After that she started backpedaling big time and then insisted I come in and check it out and she would have a nurse play with a doppler with me. So I did(I was bored and wouldnt pass up a chance to hear the baby and wanted tips anyways) and they didnt charge or anything. Even got free parking. Babies heartbeat was 150something and s/he was moving all around and kicking the doppler. I stupidly forgot my doppler bc they were going to show me with mine. The nurse that helped me in person was really nice. They all are in person but on the phone their IQs drop 100 points. These are the same idiots that told me my beta numbers were dropping and that they didnt know what that means bc "they arent drs". And not to "bother" coming in for it.
Good thing I adore my Dr.
Re: Back from Stupid Drs appt.
It's possible to feel movement at 18 weeks, but not everyone does. That's still a really tricky time. I thought you weren't supposed to be able to hear any reliable results from a home doppler before 20 weeks or so. I'm glad everything worked out ok, though.
