Portable Dual DVD Players for roadtrips

So....I always said I'd never own a DVD player for the car.   Me: "We never needed video in the car....we played 'find xx' or drew or whatever".   Ummmm....yeah.....now I have two kiddos shouting "mommy mommy mommy....daddy daddy daddy"....yes babies...we're right here :)

So, I'm driving both kids to Birmingham next weekend for my BIL's wedding.  I'm thinking now that a dual portable DVD player MIGHT not be such a bad idea.  Reviews?  Recommendations?  Bring em on!!!

  • Yeah, with an hour commute every day, our DVD player is a must have.  We don't use it all the time- only if traffic is really bad (last night) or Gavin is feeling particularly loud :-)  But man, it can really save our sanity.  The other solution is audiobooks.  I'm really surprised that Gavin doesn't have a British accent with all the Harry Potter and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy that he has been exposed to!

  • if it makes you feel any better, I think that long road trip listening to that CD both there and back annoyed Finn and we haven't listened to it since!  score!

  • We have a dual screen that is okay.  It's from Target.  I don't love that you can't play a single screen if you want, they connect to each other to play.  One commects to a power source and the other has the plug for the picture to come one.  The cords are also kind of a mess to figure out inside of the car.  I.E. it's kind of like a spiderweb of criss-crossed cords.  So because of that Tess was constantly pulling the cords out. But we have figured out a better way to organize the cords so it's better now.   I also got mine from Target and didn't have time to really shop around.  It def. serves it's purpose though and I'm glad we have it.

BTW, I looked into having a DVD player installed in my car recently and the bast quote was $1000.  vs. I think our dual screen was $200?
