So...yep- lucky me. I have them. The ironic part is that my dad was this type of doctor (colon-rectal surgeon) and finally when I need some medical advice, he's not here anymore (he passed away several years ago).
From years of hearing him talk to people on the phone, I know he thought cortisone was better than preparation H, but none of his patients (to my knowledge) were pregnant so I'm not sure if you can use it when you're pregnant.
I'll call my doctor tomorrow but I don't want to call the emergency line tonight since it's not really an emergency. So, what were you told to use? I know Sitz baths and the donut ring but I'm just wondering about creams/suppositories.
No answer is too graphic- I'm used to hearing about them at the dinner table growing up so I'm pretty much immune to it!
Re: Hemorrhoids anyone?
Oh yes, I'm sure- no doubt about it. It's very painful to sit. No blood- just intense swelling and pain. I'm not constipated either- that's the weird part, but I know it happens without constipation either.

I never thought to put the wipes in the fridge- what a great idea! That would feel good. I'm going to do that now. Thanks! I hope you're feeling better soon. For something so small, they sure are painful!

I've had hemorrhoids even pre-BFP. I was told not to use cortisone during pregnancy since it's a steroid.
My rectal doc has me using Prep-H wipes. I also use Balneol (over the counter) which really helps soothe things down. I definitely recommend Balneol if yours itch. Of course clear it with your doc though. My OB was totally fine with Prep-H & Balneol on a daily basis usage.
I hope you feel better. They do stink!! I'm planning on getting mine fixed after pregnancy.
That's what I was afraid of! Oh well. I will check out Balneol tomorrow. Thanks!

No problem! It's a pain to find though. I had to ask someone at CVS. It's in a small white bottle, similar to Bactine. I made sure to memorize what aisle it was in for the next purchase.
