Hi, I too had an unexpected cs 2 weeks ago and i was driving within a week. I am still taking the perscribed motrin, but not the stronger pain med. My doc said not to pick up the car seat until after my 4 week checkup. I am just now able to wear my wedding rings again but they are still a little snug. I have been slowly increasing the amount of time I walk each day. I try to go 3-4 times a week just to get out and feel like I am doing something with myself. Hope this helps!
I too had an unexpected CS. It really throws a wrench in what you thought everything would be like!
I was told not to drive for 2 weeks. I actually ended up not driving for 4, but that's just because it happened that way, not because I couldn't physically do it
I started taking a half dose after a few days and stopped taking the Rx meds after about a week. Then I took Advil for another maybe 2 days.
Honestly, I avoided picking up the babe in the carseat for quite a while, but that's just b/c I didn't feel comfortable with it and my husband was around to do it for me. I could have done it after probably 2 weeks no problem, but I waited more like 3.
I never had real trouble with swelling. I only had to remove them the night after I gave birth and then was able to put them on the next day.
Longer walks... this took me probably a good 4 weeks or so. BUT I had a lot of pelvic pain towards the end of my pregnancy and I still had a lot of pain from that until recently. So walking was probably more painful from this than the CS.
I can say that I felt absolutely terrible for almost 2 weeks, but at the end of those 2 weeks I just woke up one day and felt a little better and then a little better every day after that. It was like I turned a corner after almost 2 weeks.
Drive: as soon as I was off narcotics (about 1.5 weeks)
Go without pain meds: I'm still taking ibuprofen a couple of times a day.
Pick up baby in car seat: cleared at two weeks for anything up to 20 lbs.
Wear my rings: about a week.
Go on longer walks: haven't tried yet. I went to the mall this past weekend to pick up two things for Easter. That wasn't such a great idea; I was pretty sore afterwards.
-Go Without Pain Medication: It was around 10 days after the C-section I went completely without pain meds.
-Pick Up the Baby in the Carseat: 3 weeks
-Wear Your Wedding Rings: Most of my swelling was down after a few days. I got my rings back on after a week.
-Go on longer walks: DH and I have been going on walks almost immediately after I got home from the hospital. It has helped a lot with recovery to just get out and walk around.
-You Could Drive- I think he said 2 weeks, but I drove as soon as I got home. I have a REALLY hard time sitting still for some reason.
-Go Without Pain Medication- I only used them the first couple of days. I was cut up and down 9 years ago (Crohn's) and that surgery was much harder then a c-section.
-Pick Up the Baby in the Carseat- I carried her (9lbs 11oz) & carseat the day I came home.
-Wear Your Wedding Rings- don't wear them
-Go on longer walks- I didn't really it was August, really hot and I didn't want her to get burned or sick being so young. Silly I know.

-Go Without Pain Medication: I stopped regularly taking Motrin after about a week and a half, and only took Percocet before bed for about 2 weeks. I was totally off medication for the past 2 weeks until 2 days ago when my right side of the incision/upper pubic bone area started bothering me a lot and I started taking Motrin intermittendly so I would be able to walk without pain.
-Pick Up the Baby in the Carseat: I havent had to yet, but was told not to pick up anything heavier than 8 pounds until my 6 week appointment (I am only 4 weeks past my c section).
-Wear Your Wedding Rings: I never took them off.
-Go on longer walks: 3 weeks, but now I have stopped again because of the random pain.
I had an unexpected C-Section, so far recovery is going well but I am just curious as to how long before...
-You Could Drive
Supposedly 2 weeks, but I started making small trips after a few days
-Go Without Pain Medication
The hard stuff: 1 week Tylenol 1 week after that
-Pick Up the Baby in the Carseat
A few days, I had stuff to do.
-Wear Your Wedding Rings
5 days
-Go on longer walks
depends on what you define as longer. I felt crappy the first week, but every day after that I felt better and better. I felt mostly normal after 2 weeks. I still take it pretty easy until my 6 week checkup.
