infant daycare?

I am 13 weeks pregnant and my friend said that many daycares have a lengthy waiting list. Can someone please give recommendations for great infant daycare in NYC? I live in Murray Hill and work near Rock Center but for a wonderful place would be willing to travel a little. I dont know yet how i'll be able to drop my baby off at infant care but I dont think we can afford for me to go back to work...

Any advice you can provide would be so appreciated! Thank you!

    Waiting lists are a fact of life in all major metro areas.

    Most states have a board that oversees daycares. That means they have a database which can usually be sorted by zip code. Helpful?

    There's a book at B&N in the city section that lists all the big day cares with ranks and tuitions.  I can't remember what it's called, but the associates usually know what you are talking about if you just say 'day care in nyc book' (trust me, I tried :-) ).  Most people in my building use one of the Little People places, so I can't be more helpful.
