Just curious. I needs lots of quality sleep to function and I remember thinking during my pregnancy how nice it would be to get a full nights sleep and then go into labor early in the morning and have my LO by the next night .... so I could avoid missing a night of sleep.
Welp ... it didn't happen that way for me ... of course! My entire labor process was overnight. My water broke at 5:30 pm and I had her the next day at 10:44 am. I was in hard labor all.night.long.
I was just thinking how different my experience would have been if I was laboring during the day (probably more energy ...)
So anyway... how about you ??
Re: During what time of day did you labor ?
Overnight.
Water broke at 6:15pm boys born at 10:11 am and 10:12 am.
That's what I was hoping for!
I started having contractions around midnight, my water broke at 4am and I labored hard with back labor from hell until DS was born the next morning at 12:45 am.
I wouldn't have been rested at any time of the day as I wasn't able to sleep for months before DS came.
Awww! That is really similar to mine ...
Proud mama to a boys- 6/17/09 - a girl 2/23/11- and a boy 8/20/12
Started laboring at 7:30pm..
Went to the hospital around 1am, got the epidural at 4am, tried pitocin for HOURS and she was born via c-section at 4:10pm the next day.
So no, I did NOT get sleep. I was beyond exhausted by the time she was born. Happiest I'd ever been, but exhausted. However, before my contractions got too bad I took a shower at home. I had a feeling it would be a while before I got to shower again.
Wow 12 hours seems to be about the norm. What the heck happened to me??? Lol.
I was a full freaking 24 hours almost to the minute. I'm talking real contractions from the time I woke up that morning until the next morning when she was born.
I remember them saying 12 hours was the normal first labor time when I was in birthing classes. I had pretty bad contractions that were only 2-3 minutes apart from almost 12:00 noon on until I finally got an epidural around 2:00 am. I only dilated four centimeters before then. They told me they thought the epidural finally allowed me to relax enough to dilate and that's why it went so fast after that.
Holy crap, yeah, 24 hours must have been killer. Mine was between 17 and 18 hours and I still feel REALLY sorry for myself.
Once I got an epidural at 2:00 am they told me to sleep. I was exhausted but I could still feel those stupid contractions through the epi. Everytime I would start o drift off someone would come in to ask me something or the epidural would wear down and I could feel everything again.
Stupid bump. Double post.
Nice. If I had that kind of labor experience ... I would probably consider doing it again.
Induction began around 8pm. Labored all night long. Around 7am the next morning my water broke on it's own. Labored all day long. Had him via c/s at 11:10pm.
Labored for 27 hours total just to end in c/s. ::sigh::
I started having contractions at 8pm and was at the hospital by 10:30 (4 cm dilated). DS was born at 6:41am.
I was so exhausted I could hardly keep my eyes open when all the visitors showed up.
