Tips? Tricks? When did you start? I busted out the toothbrush a couple nights ago and tried to do a little run over his two bottom teeth but he did not love it. I didn't really get in there too well anyway. I just wanted to try to start getting him used to it. Maybe I should try giving it to him as a "toy" so he can just play with it and I'm sure he will end up sticking one end of it in his mouth that way.

It's hard, but it's really important to brush their teeth just like you brush yours. (My dad's a dentist, and he was shocked that some pediatricians tell parents not to worry about brushing babies' teeth until they're a year old!!)
DD just has a regular toothbrush (it's kiddie sized and pink). I started letting her hold and play with it before she got teeth. Now, I brush her teeth morning and night.
I try not to fight her too much on it -- I let her hold and play with the brush first, then I take it and say, "brush your teeth!" to get her to open her mouth for me. I brush the four teeth she has, then swipe her gums to get her used to having her whole mouth brushed. Sometimes she opens right up and lets me brush, sometimes she fights me. If she fights, I have to hold her in the crook of my elbow and hold her hands in my left hand while I quickly brush with my right hand.
