... but I'm scared to venture over there. Plus I'm not sure how many people would be able to answer my question since I'm pregnant.
My SO and I are tying the knot at the romantic court house, but we want to have a fun 80's reception. We want it to be a "formal" type party and I really want to wear a tacky wedding dress from the 80's. Think big puffy sleves, bow on the back, and lots of gaudy lace. I have found several on e-bay but I'm not sure if my big ol belly will fit into them. Would buying one that is too big and having it altered work? These are ones that I like:
or I could get a raw pattern like this:
What do you think? Could it work?
Re: i know this isn't the knot...
The ladies on the Seattle Knot board are super nice - Tygirl and Jennlin are nothing but helpful. I love the 80's reception idea - have you watched The Wedding Singer lately? There's a lot of good ideas there.
I'm not sure how big your bump will be by the wedding, so I'd suggest talking to an experienced alterations person before bidding or deciding. Oh and you can check out the local good will and thrift stores for some vintage dresses, jewelry and so on.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
I am not a seamstress, but I just wanted to say that I love this idea. We did this for FutureFung's Bachelorette Party (so her Bride dress might not work)...it was so much fun!
People went all out. It was AMAZING. Most girls got their dresses on eBay or at a thrift store on capital hill!
I'm in the middle of planning a wedding now too -- except we're doing our Costa Rica in February. We're going to have an international baby right away! There is honestly not enough time to get everything done!
The 80s theme sounds fun -- lots of great dance music for sure!
Well youre going to be in the same boat in a need of a seamstress cause you'll have to wear a bridesmaid dress
. We haven't set a date yet. By July 23 at the latest
and someone should surely wear this

I will pull out my heinous pink 80s prom dress to see if it might work. Next time you're over or whatever if it's a possibility I can model it for a yea or nay. Otherwise I will indeed be trolling the thrift racks for something- fun! And I would definitely suggest sometime at least a week in advance of 7/23...Wolfy might decide he can't wait that long, you never know.
