Hey there. Brand-y new mom here, so sorry if this is FAQ...
I've decided to go the pumping route. I have the Medela PIS, which rocks. I usually pump for 20 minutes and get about 2 ounces. My question - how long do you usually pump for? And when do I get to that magical place when I'm pumping enough to start freezing bags and bags of the stuff?
TIA:)
Re: All you power pumpers, come on down...
Yes, I was thinking of turning to T, but quite frankly, I'm a bit intimidated by her pumping prowess. My measley 2 ounces is nothing compared to her stockpiled freezer
2 oz at 5 days is pretty good. Just keep it up, 8-10x/day, with no more than a 5 hour stretch of not pumping. By a week or so in, I had a freezer full. As long as you keep pumping, your body will (theorhetically) keep producing.
Also, I was told to do 30 minutes, OR until you stop producing milk for 2 minutes straight...whichever comes first.
Like PP said. 8-10 times a day. I charted my pumping for the first 3 weeks to "see" the increase. It helped me a lot!
Good luck!
