Would you bring your DC to Vegas?

Have you done so?
We don't gamble, basically just walked around and ate alot when we went in the past.

Thoughts?

TIA!

Re: Would you bring your DC to Vegas?

  • I see a great deal of people there with kids every time I go, and my suggestion would be to find a sitter. There is no way to escape all the smoke unless you stay at a non-smoking hotel (there are a handful) and away from the strip. It's really just not a kid friendly place... Some of the hotels do have shopping areas away from the gamblers, however, if you don't like your child around any smoke, steer clear and head to Disneyworld.

  • We did. I went out to visit friends from when I lived out there. We stayed at Excalibur. It's not non-smoking, but I requested a room in Tower II (the one by the pool and at the entrance from the parking lot). DH and DD stayed in the entrance lobby away from smoke while I checked us in and we only walked through the casino once. DD had very limited exposure to smoke if any at all. There may have been once or twice that we walked outside and someone within 20 feet was smoking so you could tell it was in the air. We walked along the strip, went to see the lions at MGM, went to gymboree with a friend, out to eat off-strip at restaurants (all non-smoking by law unless there is a bar/casino). We had a great time. FWIW, we get exposed to just as much smoke walking near people who are smoking when they shouldn't be at Disneyland (we avoid the designated smoking areas).
  • We recently took DD to Vegas too. Just two weekends ago. We stayed at the Venetian. Not sure if it's a non-smoking hotel or not, but I never saw or smelled smoke inside the hotel, restaurants, or shopping mall. We took her to M&M World and she loved all the bright colors. We took her to FAO Swartz toy store at the Caesars Palace shopping mall and she loved it there too. Mostly looking around cause she has no idea what's going on. Just grabbing things and looking at all the colors. She just stared at the "sky" inside the malls (the blue sky ceilings) We don't gamble much (me not at all) but it was still fun. Not the kid-friendliest place to go, but still fun! One tip, if you do go walking down the strip (which we did once) take a carrier. I forgot our Bjorn and she was heavy! haha! In the malls the stroller is great! Oh, and in the Venetian mall there's a placed call Kids Karnival or Kiddies Karnival (towards the end of the inside mall by the Blue Man Group statues) anyway, that store was ADORABLE! Some things were pricey, but some things were just TOO cute! Okay, this ended up long - Sorry!

  • No.  I don't think it is a place for kids.  It is an adult destination IMO.
