Success after IF

Preemie moms-will I always be a germophobe?

DS is a later preemie (33 wks.).  Will I ever stop freaking out when friends/family grab him and touch him and pass him around like a football.  I am so freaked that he's going to catch something......
Our miracle IVF baby - D 6/09 & J - Surprise! born 9/10!!!

Re: Preemie moms-will I always be a germophobe?

  • Nope :) But I was kind of a germaphobe before the girls. Now I'm just plain neurotic! People just don't understand how easy it is for these little guys to catch something. My SIL gave a dollar bill to one of my babies to play with!!! She has 3 kids!
    IUI # 1 on 1/19, Beta 2/1 = BFN, Hysteroscopy on 2/15= 5 polyps removed, and cervix cleared, IUI #2 on 4/15 = BFP, Beta#1 on 4/30 @ 15 dpiui= 279, Beta #2 on 5/9 @24dpiui = 10,154, U/S on 8/5 = TWO GIRLS! Born 10/16 at 28 weeks. Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers Lilypie First Birthday tickers

  • My anxiety was through the roof when the ILs were here Saturday.  As they were being passed around I felt like I was going to lose it.  I sure hope it gets better...

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I kind of had to calm down when she was about 18 months old b/c we signed her up for preschool and I figured that she was going to be so exposed to germs there was nothing I could do (even though I did talk at length with the teachers and director about the importance of minimizing germs...).  Also, she got RSV this winter and did really well so that makes me feel like she can handle illnesses like a full term kid...(even though I did panic at the time Embarrassed)
  • I still have a bottle of sterilizer armed and ready to go. They should make a holster for that thing. I am a quick draw!
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I don't think so. Katen is over 2 years old and I still try to minimize germs. We carry a bottle of foaming sanitizer in the car and Katen knows we "wash hands" when we get in from an outing, just like clockwork. The NICU nurses really put the fear of germs in me.  lol!
