Success after IF

Britax users come in!

Someone (sorry I don't recall.....maybe smudgesmom?) posted awhile back about tethering the Boulevard while RF.

I had our Boulevard inspected yesterday, so I thought I would pass on what the inspector told me!

She (certified, but who knows if they all know "everything") mentioned that Britax seats are the only ones that are actually able to be tethered while RF.....all the rest should not be. This being said, I drive a Grand Caravan and there is no place to tether the seat between it and the front seat on the floor. She said it was fine since no other brand could be tethered anyways. She did not recommend tethering it back to the tether point of the actual seat he is in, she said it would be no safer and a huge PITA to get him in (I agree).

Even though the tether point for FF is on the seat of the car, you can't tether RF to the front seat.....if this makes sense to you, it's odd.

Just thought I would share! I originally hated our Boulevard, but now that it is in I love it! I did the install and the tech didn't change a thing, very easy to put in!

  • I think you are referring to my post.  I am considering taking the tether off since it is so darn hard to get her in and out.  Your post helps alleviate some of my guilt around this-- thanks for sharing!

  • We have both our Britax seats tethered while rear facing but we have SUVs.  It is an extra strap to get her around when putting her in and out of the seat but I didn't feel like the seat was secure enough without it.  My mom also has a Britax but she doesn't use the tether because like you stated there is no place to tether it for rf in her car.

  • Please Please Please tether your britax rear-facing. The seat was crash tested with the tether and deemed to be safe this way. This is one of the main selling points of this seat. The radian is also tethered rear-facing. We have a true fit for our son that has a foot for rear facing.

Please view this you tube video (i think it is also found on britax.com).

Unfortunately not all car seat tech know what they are doing and should be reported. If you have any other questions, car-seat.org has a great message board with a lot of great and knowledgeable techs on it that can help you out .

  • The video you posted does not help.....our seat can't be tethered, there is NO place to put it!
