I was just listening on the radio and they had people calling in their stories . Some were crazy. Like one woman called in saying that the woman driving right next to her has a phone in one hand and a coffee in the other while driving with 3 kids in the back seat. UGH!
What never ceases to amaze me, seeing motorcyclists doing wheelies with no helmet. I saw a dead body (covered near a park last summer) from doing stunts on a motorcycle without a helmet.
Re: What never ceases to amaze you??
How truly badly people drive when the weather changes a bit.

the lack of manners of some people. i don't know if it's a product of poor raising or just general social stupidity, but it definitely never ceases to amaze me.
lala - i was commuting home yesterday and saw a man with a helmet WITH a 10-12 yo boy on the back WITHOUT a helmet. ON. THE. FVCKING. HIGHWAY!
How our whole society is in 'such a hurry' all the time. I swear driving around here has become a danger zone because everyone seems to be in such a hurry to get somewhere that they pay no attention to what they're doing.
And I agree with people having no manners. People are just rude. I swear I want to be pregnant again because people are so nice and polite to you, ie. holding doors open, saying hi, asking how your day is, etc....
Where should I start? lol
People running red lights--actually, how little attention people pay in general when driving. It's like they just can't be bothered to follow traffic laws. Screw everyone else. They've got somewhere to be!
The lack of common courtesy (please, thank you, excuse me). We don't need to be best friends, but you can at least be kind.
People that litter. wtf? The world is not your trash can.
People who abuse their kids. I know this is somewhat obvious, but....
I look at DS and am always amazed by him. But when he's being frustrating, I want to help him, I want to work WITH him. He's a kid. He's acting the way a kid does.
When I hear abuse stories and the parents make a comment like "he was having a tantrum and I was sick of it", or "he was running away from me", or "He pee'd in the bed" as reason why they abused their kid, I' m just simply stunned.
Why have kids if you can't handle them when they act like kids?

People who defend their right to drink and drive. "Well, how else am I going to get home?" My guess? Hearse.
And on the smoking thing, people who insist that there is no real proof that smoking is bad for you. Hello? People in fires usually don't die of burns. They die of smoke inhalation.
or those that say, "but i liiiike it". well that all good and fine except you know, pot heads like pot; people that abuse pain killers, like them. doesn't mean any of the aforementioned are a good idea. once you throw kids in the mix...i just think it's relaly selfish (no selfish in a good way - yay i took 2 hours to myself today; but selfish in a - i don't give a crap if my kid has second hand smoke, i do what i want!)
the helmet thing blows my mind. my dh drives a scooter to work (he used to have a vespa but just sold it and bought a new stella) and he has seriously been made fun of for wearing a helmet. we don't have helmet laws in IL. i just can't fathom how anyone would make fun of someone for being safe.... luckily he doesn't care and wears a gigantic storm trooper-esque helmet. lol.
and lori - don't even get me started on drinking & driving. it infuriates me beyond belief. i have a relative that does it ALLLLLL the time. even w/his little kids in the car. and his wife enables him. i lost my cousin to drunk driving so i'm especially sensitive to it, but come on people. it isn't ok. and unfortunately most of the time drunk drivers kill innocent people and are fine themselves. it is dreadful.
my favorite excuse is the old "smoking is going to just take like 10 years off my life, and when i'm old i don't care. those years won't matter. um, ok genius. first off it will probably matter to your loved ones who would love to have more time with you... way to give a shiit about those who love you. second i lost a friend to lung cancer this year. he was 49. he had 6 months between when he was diagnosed and died. dh's old boss is also dying of lung cancer. also 49. i'd like to live twice that long. 49 is far too young to die. smoking doesn't just take old people. if you think it does then you're a moron.
We took Lyla to an Easter egg hunt today. Hers was the "under 24 months" section, which was a nicely roped off area with lots of little eggs and candy scattered around. One parent was allowed to go in with their child, to cut down on the chaos. Lyla picked some things up to put in her little basket, threw some back down, watched the other kids, generally had a good time. I knew she wasn't going to be eating Skittles and peanut butter cups, so I threw most of it back down before leaving.
Then I glanced around me and saw parents going CRAZY. Like, one lady had only a newborn with her (sound asleep in his carrier), but was piling candy into two large shopping bags. When they got full, she pulled out her shirt and started filling that up. Other parents sent like three adults in with one kid, all filling bags with as much as they could carry.
I was seriously in shock. I mean, I like candy and all, but enough to steal bags of it from a 1 year old's Easter egg hunt?? Uh, no thanks.
