contrax 3 min apart, cervix closed??????

Result of my NST today.  I'm sent home to lay down and drink water.  Have to go to L&D if I continue to have them 5 min apart for an hour and if not, have to go back to dr. to check cervix again.

What does it mean to have strong, close contractions but a closed cervix?  False labor? I don't understand.   Was too surprised by this turn of events to ask.

    Well, I had contractions that were 2-3 minutes apart for 36 hours.  It was labor.  I was 41 weeks.  My cervix never dilated more than 1.5 cms.  Even after breaking my water, lots of pitocin, prostaglandin gels, etc.

     

    I had a c-section.

     

    Think happy thoughts and hope that your contractions slow down (probably the best thing since you're so early) or your cervix softens up.
