Returning Carters clothing

Can I return Carters clothing to the Carters store even if the item wasn't purchased there??

I'm just looking for store credit.

Yes, if they carry the item. I know some of the Carters lines are made specifically for Walmart or Target, and Carters will not take those back.
I got 2 NB Carters outfits from BRU that ended up being too small, and the Carters outlet took them back for store credit.
