XP and NBR: live music wedding emergency!

a friend of mine is getting married on April 10 and her musician just had to cancel on her! Ack! They don't want a DJ, are on kind of a tight budget, and really love live music, even if it's just "a guitar and singer." Wedding is in Dripping Springs.

Any ideas?????

    Honestly as an event planner I hate saying this but she may have to "settle for a DJ" if she can even book a good one by now. I hope she signed a contract with the original musician and can get some money back from him.

    Steven Franks sang at my wedding and did a great job IMO. He's also a friend of mine so I might be bias Stick out tongue. He sings at venues around Austin and some outside of Austin.

    DH wrote a song and he sang it with just his guitar as a surprise. He was suppose to sing a Wade Bowen song we'd been practicing but DH got sneaky and Steven and him wrote one.

    Steven has a full band but I'm not sure how much they'd charge. He sings country/Texas country and a lot of cover songs but can sing other songs too. He's got some songs on Myspac and if your interested I can get his contact info for you.

    What kind of music are they looking for? I know a few guys who are fantastic with just their guitars and voices, plus a couple of them also have bands they play with too (for more $), but all of them are primarily country. Email me at Amy dot Janik at gmail if you'd like more info...

    Lost John Casner played with a five piece band at my wedding and they were amazing.  Lots of good danceable music.  I think it was around $1500.

    we used the original recipe band and there were awesome - and a lot more affordable than most bands in austin.

    i know A LOT of vocalists and instrumentalists if they know what kind of music they want. i guess the perks of graduating from a GREAT school of music lol

    a lot of these guys will be great and do it for not a lot of $. do we know what they want? a string quartet or ww quartet? vocalists?

    Also forgot to mention that Kurt (owner of Lone Star) also books other bands, and that a lot of great musicians also work at the school and gig for reasonable rates.  Akina Adderly is a great singer, who might be available as well.  She's on the "About Us" section of the school's website.  HTH!
