sex of baby in question...

in 2nd Trimester

and for NO good reason at all. minus the fact that i am insane and all these stories on here scared me.

i don't get any more ultrasounds till 37 weeks and by then the room and everything will be done. so i want to get a 3d u/s at a place that does it for like $100. my husband thinks i am nuts and isn't too into it... i just want the piece of mind!

also, as another note of why i should stop second guessing, i went to a special doc for the big u/s. and had 2 seperate people, the technician and the doc, tell me girl.  i hate that i get like this and drive myself crazy... 

would you get the 3D u/s???

    I'm already planning an elective ultrasound sometime between 28-30 weeks. I'd go for it. $100 for peace of mind? Totally!

    I did a 3d u/s because I was freaking out about gender. I will never do that again! Baby was a boy, just like I was told :)

    I think the u/s is really reliable after 20 weeks, and I was told twice it is a boy so no I wouldn't get a 3D ultrasound.

    The question is.... is your peace of mind worth $100?  I plan to get an elective u/s, it's $80.  I've been putting it off though.  Who knows maybe I'll end up not doing it.  But if I decide my peace of mind is worth the $80 I'll do it.

    Personally I probably wouldn't get it.  You've had it confirmed twice (by DOCTORS, right?) and at that far along I would trust their word over some random U/S tech.  Why would they be any more accurate?

    But...if money were no issue, I probably would go just to see my LO again :)

    I'm not getting a 3D for this child, but I did have one for my 1st, and they are REALLY cool!!!  I got it done at 37wks and delivered at 38wks.  I brought the pics to the hospital to compare!!  It was super fun seeing such a detailed picture of the baby.

    I personally wouldn't doubt the US tech and the doctor, but I understand the part where you want to make "really" sure. DH and I thought about a 3D ultrasound (around $100) and decided against it. We only had one US where we were told girl. The tech was 100% positive. So we're going with that and planning for a girl.

    I'm sure mistake can happen but I doubt very often, especially the closer you are to 20 weeks.

    If money is not an issue I guess go for it.  I wouldn't personally, since a 20 week ultrasound is pretty trustworthy when done by a professional.

    I'm concerned the gender is wrong on mine too. I was only told once, by an ultrasound technician and she seemed wishy washy.

    That said, I'd rather spend the $100 on something for the baby.

    I know that you used hear on occasion about people being told the'yre having a girl and then have a boy but I think u/s have come a long way (maybe that still happens but its pretty rare I'm sure). When we had our u/s the tech zoomed in on between the legs and said "what do you think it is?" My guy and I both looked at each other and thought "that looks like a vagina if I've ever seen one!" I don't know how those techs can see the tiny detail that they do but if he and I can tell its a vagina so can a highly train tech (assuming LO is posing so you can see it clearly of course) !

    Thanks for the responses, it makes me feel better! I am still debating the 3D just bc I think it would be cool but I don't need it to be 'positive' my doctor was sure so I trust him!

    I swear sometimes I can convince myself of anything!

    i plan to get the 3D! you're not nuts, DH's just dont get it sometimes lol. those 3D u/s are amazing and just having the little video of it and the peace of mind would be worth the 100 to me :)
