8 days pp and SO uncomfortable "down there" (maybe tmi)

So I expected the bleeding but I feel like I am irritated and I also think that I developed a hemorrhoid after I came home. Is that possible? I am so uncomfortable sleeping. I have used witch hazel pads, A&D, and a spray. Anyone have any other remedies for me???

  • ICE, ICE, ICE!!!

    What spray do you have?

Put witch hazel pads all along your pad, spray your spray, & make sure u use your rinse bottle w/feminine  hygeine soap in it EVERY time u use the restroom!! Also, you can put some water/liquid witch hazle on a pad & put it in the freezer for an hour, then put that on & you will feel SO much better if u do that!!

I didn't notice my hemorrhoid until 4 weeks PP...

  • Sitz Bath!  I had some complications that left me with extreme back pain, so I was upset because I couldn't do a sitz bath since I wasn't able to get in the tub.  Little did I know, you can buy a sitz bath thing that sits on the toilet.  Worked wonders for me.  I'm still using it for my hemmies :(
  • I developed a hemi after my first pp poop.  I can push an 8+ pound baby out of my vagina and then develope a hemi after a little poop!  Seriousley!

Demaplast spray worked good for me, but I was quite sore for quite some time.  I couldn't sit on the toilet for more than a minute (which made it really hard to poop).

    Ah, those were the days...

Yes, it is normal to develop hemorrhoids after childbirth, unfortunately. Also constipation, and you're more susceptible to UTIs if you're BFing.

The only thing that helped me with PP pain was lots of ibuprofen. IMO Tucks pads and whatnot were ridiculous - great, that felt good better for .02 seconds, now what??

Make sure you take all your stool softeners if they gave you any at the hospital - and consider buying more when you run out of those.

  • Ugh, at least I know I am not alone! I am using the Dermaplast spray like I own stock in it lol. It is heaven. I guess I will try more ice.

  • Just wanted to say I love your DD's name! We almost went with that, but you can see that we chose something close! Also, i'll add to always sit on a pillow even if you don't feel you need it at that time (or the boppy!) and I found that sleeping with a pillow between my knees helped. It gets better!!

  • I don't have any different advice but just wanted to say great name choice!!! We chose Julianna as well but spelled it slightly differently. Smile

  • I agree with what everyone else is saying, but I also found that using Motrin instead of Tylenor or Advil really helped me. In the hospital they said that Motrin's stronger. Once I got some in the house and started using that instead of my usual Advil I started to feel a lot better.
  • TUCKS PADS saved my LIFE!!!!
  • Ive also heard of dipping a pad in witch hazel.. and putting it in the freeze and then putting it on.. oh.. if only i would have known that ... sounds like heaven!!!
