Sad about DS switching daycares

DS has gone to the same in home DCP since he was seven weeks old (he's now 18.5 months old) and we LOVE her. She's so awesome with DS. But, she's moving an hour away, so we had to start looking for a new daycare. He'll be started at the new daycare (a center) in just over a month, and I'm SO nervous about a lot of things (him napping on a mat, the fact that he is still obsessed with the bottle, his picky eating, etc). I know he'll adjust just fine, even though it'll probably take some time, and he'll do great there too. But, its still scary nonetheless. He's been at the same place for SO long and soon we'll be dropping him off in a completely new environment. I think I may ask DH to drop him off his first day. I know I'll be a complete mess when he's clinging to me and screaming, having no clue why he's in a new place. He has a lot of separation anxiety, but does so well with his current DCP because he's just really used to her.

We'll be visiting with DS a few times before he starts. He's already been there twice to visit, and we're taking him again Friday. I hope these visits help make the transition easier.

  • Good luck.  I would be a mess too if I had to change our DC.  I love our place.

I know me too but I really think that it will affect you more than him. He will have so much fun and he'll hVe something new to tell you every day you pick him up

  • I would be really nervous, too, but it sounds like you know that it will eventually all be okay.  Remember to talk it up to your DS.  Yes, I know he's only 18.5 months old, but they understand what we say!

DD cried every day when DH dropped her off at DC for weeks.  One night I "talked to her" about it, trying to "prepare her" to go to DC the next day.  The next day she didn't cry at all!  ( :  It may have been coincidence, but the talk didn't hurt!

GL and remember it will be okay.
