  • For sure the CPR class and I think I'm going to encourage my husband to take the Daddy class since he's never done more than hold a baby and feed part of a bottle.

  • I want a Lamaze or labor class, the great expectations class seems like it will be filled with information I won't need. I have a 14 year old plus 6 neices & nephews. I know what to do with a newborn!! lol

I'm also signing up for a prenatal yoga class

  • FYI:  Great expectations doesn't deal at all with child/infant care.  It pretty much only deals with labor/delivery and the different stages that you will be going through, techniques to cope with pain, how your partner can be helping, etc.   It's an overview, for sure.  So if you know you want to do lamaze or bradley method, then I would probably take a more specific focused class.
  • Is anyone taking the breastfeeding class? I plan on breastfeeding if the baby can latch & all of that but do you think it is worth taking a class or just wait for the nurses to show me how to nurse?

I plan on taking the breastfeeding class, I breastfed my son and it takes a lot of patience and hard work.  I wouldn't just take the 15 - 20 minutes you get from the lactation specialist after delivery, you're exhausted, excited, overstimulated & overwhelmed!!!  you can only get so much information in 20 minutes and you're really too wired to comprehend everything.

Northwesterns breastfeeding class comes with a book & dvd I'm signing up for that one.

  • I've signed us up for a few of the classes and am looking forward to them.  My DH will attend the Father's class next week, he's stoked!  We're taking Great Expectations, Breastfeeding, and Comfort Measures in July.

I'm due at the very end of August so I plan on taking the classes at the end of july / beginning of August. This way I hope everything will be fresh in my mind!!

I may take the comfort measures during birth class, I'm still on the fence my first labor 14 years ago I didn't have any meds, I think I want them this go round! lol

  • I think I'm going to do the breastfeeding class in June since I'm due in July. I want to know as much as possible going in!

The other classes I think we'll do sometime in third trimester...
