2nd Trimester

Weight Gain

Hey ladies, I'm almost 19 weeks and I've only gained about 5 pounds.  I consider myself lucky because I'm only showing a little bit but I'm tall (5'8") and was wondering about how much weight others have been gaining?

Re: Weight Gain

  • So far I have only gained 7lbs.

  • Loading the player...
  • 9 lbs at 21 weeks...I started at 111lbs so i'm totally ok with this.
  • I am up 4 pounds. I have a very low BMI...and my doctor wants me to gain 30 pounds.

~~ I want to put the weight on so badly, but my body just does not "put on weight".

  • As long as your doctor is ok with your weight gain, you are fine.

I am just over 19 weeks and I have gained 15 pounds. I gained most of it in the 1st tri, luckily my appetite has supsided some and I am back to eating normal portions and able to eat healthy things instead of only what doesn't make me want to gag.

  • I am still at exactly the same weight I was since before I was pregnant, although I started on the heavy side. I talked to my Dr. and she wasn't concerned. She said as long I wasn't starving myself, and I was taking prenatals and getting protein then it was fine.

  • I just went to the Dr. yesterday and I've gained 2lbs so far. I was extremely sick in the beginning and lost some weight. My Dr. wasn't concerned though.

  • I'm hovering right around 30 but I never expected to stay within the 25-35lb mark.I always figured 40-45 would be about my average.

I'm 6ft and my body loves to gain weight. I also haven't gained any since coming back from vacation which I put on about 5lbs there.

I'm only 5'0". Pre-pregnancy my weight fluctuated between 115-120, and I would have liked to lose 5lbs. At 19 weeks pregnant, my weight still hovers right around 120. I feel like I'm not gaining enough, but I'm being careful to eat very healthy so I tell myself it's ok. I've cut out almost all soda and junk food and eat things like carrots for a snack now. I'm not eating better to control my weight, I'm doing it so my baby gets better nutrients. Sometimes I feel guilty, like I'm not gaining enough weight and I'm secretly afraid my doctor is going to yell at me tomorrow when I go in for my 20 week appointment.
  • I have gained about 10lbs! I haven't weighed in a few days. I kind of feel like its on the high end. I have been STARVING since I got pregnant and was never sick so I was able to eat the entire time.

Luckily I have been eating healthy and working out! All I can do is keep that up and I will gain what I gain!

  • I've only gained 2 pounds (I've always had a hard time gaining/maintaining weight). However, my doctor isn't so much concerned about weight gain. He's more concerned with fundal height--as long as that is getting bigger, he doesn't really care.
    "To me, you are perfect."

Im close to this. I am 4'10 and my weight was always between 110-112lbs ... At my initial appt at 8wks I was down to 106lbs even though I never had M/S. I am now 25 wks and according to my scale this morning I am 113lbs. So I'd say I have gained about about 5-7lbs from my initial start up point.

  • I'm up 15 lbs at not quite 24 weeks. I am really happy with that, considering with DS, I gained almost 60 lbs and was up 30 at this point. LOL. I'm normally really tall and thin (6'1) so I don't know what happens to my body when I'm pregnant, but I'm glad its a bit more within the "normal" range with this pregnancy- so far!

I'm 22 weeks and I've gained 8 pounds. My doctor told me that I should be gaining a pound each week until the baby is here. I eat the same as I did before I was prego. Good Luck ladies!!?

  • I had gained 13lbs through 22 weeks. I was a bit shocked, but my doc is happy. I was never since (not once), so I never lost weight at the beginning. I basically gained 5lbs in my first tri, then a pound a week after that.

I've been running 15-20 miles a week, taking 2 spin classes and lifting weights, so there's not much more I can do. I figure i"m maintaining my muscle mass, so I'm good.

Honestly? I think most of that 13lbs is in my boobs!! HOLY HANNA! Surprise

  • At 27 weeks I had gained 13 pounds.  I lost during the first tri and didn't pass my pre-pregnancy weight until 19 weeks.

  • I am tall too, about 5'8"  and have gained 7 lbs so far.  My dr is totally ok with it, and actually only wants me to gain 18-22 lbs.  I wasn't overweight to begin with, but have a pretty muscular frame.

  • i'm still down by 3.  hopefully at my next weigh-in I'll at least be back to my starting weight.  you'd think the stealth drive through on the way to the hospital to visit my mom where i pick up a chocolate dipped cone from McD's would have added a little more poundage, but noooo....

  • Im 15 weeks tomorrow and I've lost 14 pounds.

At my last appointment I had lost 12 and was told to start eating... so far I have lost 2 more pounds... oops.

I'm not worried because I'm overweight to begin with, but my doctor wasn't very pleased with me at my last appointment. I've been eating like a cow and hoping that eventually the weight will start piling on.

  • I haven't gained anything yet at 15 wks.  I'm trying to eat well and increase my protein, but I've always had trouble gaining weight.  My MW is concerned yet, as long as I'm staying healthy and the baby is growing the way s/he should.
  • I am almost 15 weeks pregnant with twins.  I have not gained anything yet.  I started overweight.  The first trimester I lost a couple and gained it back.  I am not worried because my doctor recommended a 15 pound weight gain for the entire pregnancy (which seemed low to me considering it is twins).  I am eating a lot but mostly good stuff (fruits, veggies, low-fat dairy, protein, and a few treats).  I eat when I am hungry and don't deny myself if I need something every hour or two.  I think the truth is my metabolism is higher since I eat so often.  Before I would go longer without eating.  Plus I am growing two babies and drinking only water or milk (a little juice sometimes).  I am eating way better than I did pre-pregnancy.
  • 8 - 12 lbs (on gym scale, nude and in the am :)) but only 6 based on hospital scale (usually in the evening). I'm not bothered. I'm thinking I'll gain about 25 - 35lbs, but would like to keep in at the lower range. Took a lot longer to lose the weight with my 2nd (gained 43lbs) than my first (gained 25 lbs and lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks flat).
