yep. I don't know what I would do w/out it!!! I'm a SAHM, but it's for working moms too. It's a national organization w/ local chapters: Mothers and More.
We do playgroups and fieldtrips for the kids during weekdays, but it's just as much for the moms then for the kids. There is a weeknight activity usually at least once a week: moms night out, moms night in, movie night, book club, general meetings (we get guest speakers to come talk to us about topics of interest, like fashion, child nutrition, photography, etc..), as well as member support, family activities on weekends, and mom's weekend away once a year. It's so great to have something outside of being a mom, just for me, with a bunch of women who are in a similar place in life and have common interests. I have met some of my closest friends through this group and it is seriously a lifesaver!
The link above goes straight to the national page w/ the US map if you want to try and find a local chapter.

Yes DS and I go to a playgroup through the school district during the week, they have playtime for the babies and the moms talk about things that we are interested in regarding babies and life with them! Its nice to get out of the house and talk with other mommies!

I just looked up this 'Mothers and more' because you made it sound like a lot of fun. But on the website, it sounds more like some kind of advocacy campaign for working and stay at home moms. Does that get pushed to the side in favor of fun outings in some chapters or is it the main focus of the group?

I go to a weekly Moms & Tots Bible study through our church... I don't know if you are religious, but if so, try to find a church that has a lot of families or has family oriented groups/activities.

I think that's just how they promote it. I agree they don't word it well at all! They're in the process of redoing their website and they asked members what to change and that was one of the main things I told them! It's really just their marketing strategy to supposedly appeal to all types of moms.
I can't speak for all of the chapters, but I just ended my "term" (volunteered) as co-leader and our chapter, as well as most of the ones I spoke to on conference calls, is ALL about the outings and stuff for moms and for kids. The "advocacy campaign" thing is really just on the national website and the only time that ever gets brought up is when we have our general meetings we have to read the short mission statement before we can begin. Otherwise, it's just all the fun with some guidelines we have to follow (like certain topics for meetings or no non-members at home playgroups for liability reasons..)

I don't go to one but I'd really like to. There is not a lot going on in the local board here for Utah, but I think I'll check out some of the other websites to see what I can find. I need some Mommy friends!
I found a group through a local community center but I decided not to join. Make sure to ask a lot of questions! What I thought was a laid back, fun group ended up sounding more like boot camp. They had a lot of requirements that I wasn't so fond of. I've decided to keep looking.
