I was hoping ours would ease up a bit but still this is what they have:
Post Partum
Fathers/Significant Others/Grandparents: Open visitation, limit three visitors at one time
Siblings (ages 10 & older) of Infant: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
All Other Visitors (Adults only, two visitors per patient at any time): 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
I wanted DD to come to the hospital but she is only 3. Should I call and ask anyway?
Re: What are your hospitals rules about visitation
Well, are people actually monitoring who gets into the room and onto the unit? Sometimes you get further by doing what you want, rather than asking for permission. Our hospital said siblings of the child are allowed, regardless of age, as they want family bonding to be positive.
A nurse also told us, "it's not like we check ID to make sure it's your children being let into your room...if you want to place your newborn at risk, that's up to you."
Maternity Unit
Visiting During Labor and Birth
The father, primary support person, and siblings of the new baby may be present during labor and birth. Siblings attending the birth must be accompanied by an adult who is neither the father nor the primary support person. Collaboration must be conducted between the patient, nursing management and the physician for any additional family members requesting presence at deilvery. Other family members may wait in the Family Lounge.
Visiting Beginning Two Hours After Birth
Fathers may visit 24 hours a day. Each father will receive an identification band that matches the baby's. Grandparents and siblings may visit any time during the remainder of the post-partum stay. Grandparents and siblings of the newborn will receive identification bands to wear. Other family and friends may wait in the Family Lounge and visit two at a time from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Other family and friends should obtain a visitor pass form from the front lobby.
There is 24-hour visitation for adults and children age 12 and older. Visitation by children under age 12 must be arranged through your nurse.
This, but it was all children under 18, even siblings. They refuse to make any exceptions to this rule also... a friend of mine gave birth in October and her 3 year old daughter was not able to visit her and the baby in the hospital at all. Not even with immunization records.
I think the ban has been lifted at our hospital for now, but who knows what will happen come Doom (as in vag) Day. They expect a resurgance of H1N1 so the bans may just get worse from here on out.
We can have two people in the delivery room (im hoping to sneak in 3) and then once moved into the Mother baby unit the policy says 2 visitors at a time, but I have never once seen them enforce that as long as you are not disruptive and their are no age limits... they just have signs everywhere saying if you or your kids are sick than do not visit anyone.
Not sure on the visiting hours but I know they have 2 different 3 hour blocks...one in afternoon and one in evening.... then parents, sibilings and spouses are allowed at anytime.

11 am - 8 pm - maximum of 3 visitors at a time (passes issued), not including significant others, who can be there 24 hours.

Visitation is pretty open at our hospital. There were flu-season restrictions over the winter that would have prevented DD from being able to visit me, but thankfully they've been lifted. These are the only rules now:
Mother/Baby Unit: The father or significant other may visit 24 hours a day. Grandparents, siblings and other visitors can visit between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
White Banded individuals (max 2): 24 hours
Grandparents: 10 a.m. ? 8:30 p.m.
General visiting: 12:00 p.m. ? 8:30 p.m. & Saturday 10 a.m. ? 8:30 p.m.
No children under 12 may visit Mother/Baby unless they are siblings of the newborn.
