What a difference a rubber band makes!

Today I am wearing jeans with the old rubber band trick. Almost all of my dress pants have metal bars instead of buttons so I can't do this, but with these pants it's working out well. I do feel a bit guilty though that I'm already not fitting into my regular clothes - I'm only 8 weeks! Today a trainer at the gym said "Oh, my other pregnant client fit into her clothes until she was 20 or 21 weeks. You shouldn't be experiencing that so early." I wanted to slap her and say that it's not my fault these cravings (i.e. for meatball subs and french fries) are so freakin' strong. They are strong, right? It's not just me using PG as an excuse - I swear my mind plays tricks on me - anyone else?

  •     Get a bella band, or tummy sleeve or whatever for the dress pants,  i needed it around 8w, and then was fine until this week, and they dont button unless i want to look like i have a muffin top.  Dont worry, we all grow differently.  I dont look pg, or really even heavier, but you have to do what is good and comfortable to you.  Dont squish yourself because someone says youshould still be wearing your normal clothes.  my jeans are definitely held with a hair tie today (I like those better than rubber bands because they are smaller and blend into clothes better)

On another note, you probably shouldnt give into all those craving UNLESS they are litterally the only food you can get and keep down.  I will only give in once or twice a week, and even then remember to temper that with what is good for you and your baby, not just your palet

  • I'm ready to do the rubberband trick and I'm only 5 weeks...the bloat is so bad that I was in tears yesterday AM b'cuz my "fat" jeans were so uncomfortable!

  • The rubber band (or hair tie) trick is that you loop one end of the hair tie around the button and then pull the other side through the button hole and back around the button. It stretches so you don't have to zip your pants all the way up but they don't fall down. Like I said, today is the first time I've been able to do it and it's way more comfortable!

  • Everyone grows differently. I was getting sorta sad about my pants not fitting comfortably anymore, but what are ya gonna do now? You can't go on a diet! So, I went shopping! Old Navy has these great cargo pants(non-maternity) that are elastic and low rise. They also can roll and cuff for capris! They fit me great now, I assume I can wear them through most of my pregnancy and still wear them after! New York and Co had these really great capris in black and grey too! Elastic waist that folded over. Another pregancy and post pregnancy pants!

Is your trainer a man or a woman? If female, ask her if she has kids? Don't let anyone make you feel bad!

  • i do this all the time, luckily scrubs are drawstring and thats usually all i wear, but this trick is a life saver!
