anyone know why this isn't recommended? Our pedi told us only water and juice in sippy cups, but I have no idea why it's not okay to put formula in there.
Canadian Dental Association indicates the formula/milk/juice in sippy cups can aid in tooth decay, but I think that is only if they are sipping on it all day and not just at meals (the same with bottles). I have no idea why your pedi would say juice is okay, but not formula.
I posted below about giving formula in the sippy cups. My pedi told me to start putting formula in the sippy to start weaning her off bottles. I think that as long as you give them the formula in a sippy as a meal and not just let them sip on it all day long it should be fine. Yes, formula can decay their teeth. I felt like DD needs to start learning to use the sippy because I don't want her to still depend on the bottle once she turns one. DD drinks her formula out of her sippy in the same time that it takes her to drink a bottle.

Re: s/o formula in sippy cups
Our pedi said the same thing
hmm... very strange. I'll have to ask next time I go. I would think it is a great way to wean off the bottle, makes sense.
