do they sell cd rash cream in stores?!

Just out of curiosity....I haven't even looked yet. We're on our first week of trying CD and DD has a bit of redness; we have been using sposies too. I wanted to ask before I made a purchase online. Thanks!

  • It depends on the store.  I know Target carries CA baby, but we don't have one and I can't buy anything around here.

I put up a list of safe ones on the blog today if it helps find one.

  • ditto... target has CA baby and weleda. We use weleda with no problems but i do use a flushable bummis liner if i really need to slather it on.

  • Since you are using new diapers (meaning no chance for build up and bacteria) and you say she's only a little red, i honestly wouldn't put anything on at all yet.  Seems to me that in cloth, a slightly red bottom usually clears up on it's own.  Slathering it in cream and covering it in plasticy paper doesn't really let it breathe like clothe.

But that's just me.  I'm really paranoid about cream in my dipes, I will only do it with a liner, and only if it's a small area that has rash.  If it's full blown rash, yes, I do disposables, with A&D because it seems to heal rash the quickest.

If you have persistent redness in cloth, you either need to strip them from buildup, or look into a different type of soap. Our CD were actually our indication that our washer was on the way out because DS started getting a lot of rash, and his diapers were stinky.

  • Thanks to all! I will check out Target.Smile
  • I've used the CA baby and didn't really like it. I think it burned on his skin a couple times so we started using it sparingly. Eventually I put it away and we haven't touched it in months. I have bought Northern Essence online and we use that for nighttime since he sits in his night diapers for 12+ hours. When he's had some more serious-types spots we just use Desitin Creamy (my first choice from the samples we had) with a liner. We use the liners in every diaper for solid poops anyhow, so it isn't an extra step for us. Thankfully we don't have to use it often and we've never had a build-up problem from any of the diaper ointments.

  • We couldn't find CA Baby at our Target though their website claimed they carried it there.  We did get it from Whole Foods locally.
